By The Pigskin Of Our Teeth: The Onslaught

Titans start with, as expected, a handoff to Henry. Tannehill hits A.J. Brown across the middle. Davis to the Chiefs' 15. A miscommunication leads Mathieu as the only player close to that pass. Chiefs rush five and force a throwaway. They've had five kickers this season? Whoever this one is makes it. Is that our first Masters promo of 2020? Chiefs go three and out. Breeland picks off Tannehill on a deep ball! Or does he? I think he loses control of it. Yep, incomplete. Chiefs then jump offsides, giving the Titans a first down. Suggs leaps to knock down a 3rd down pass. Titans line up on 4th and 2. Adam Humphries back? Indeed he is, and he catches it for a three-yard gain and a first down. Tannehill rolls out and finds Jonnu Smith open inside the 10. Direct snap to Henry for an easy touchdown. 10-0 Titans early. Mahomes rolls right and finds Hill down the field. Mahomes to Kelce, but he only gets eight on third and 10. After a time out, they go to Kelce again and he makes it. Chiefs running inside more than usual. Jet sweep to Hill and you're not chasing him down. Touchdown! Another run by Henry as the first quarter ends.

More. MORE! Play action and Tannehill finds Brown for a first down. Blatant hold on Davis by Breeland. Designed Mariota run! Imagine needing a fullback to block for Henry. Mathieu has made every good play the Chiefs' defense has. Touchdown pass to DENNIS KELLY, the backup offensive lineman! It's his second one! 17-7 Titans. Hardman may have broken that return if he hadn't tried to run through a mob. Watkins gets open at the Titans' 20. Touchdown Hill! Titans don't blitz and Kelce finds a pocket and turns a short pass into an 18-yard catch and run. WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT? Mahomes goes left and is suddenly alone on the near sideline, then he cuts back inside, gets hit, spins out of a tackle, and SCORES. Chiefs lead!

Titans take a knee into halftime and try to regroup. 21-17 Chiefs at the half.

Chiefs get the second half kickoff. Watkins is ruled out of bounds. HMMM. Chiefs challenge. Does he have the ball when he's dragging his right foot? I... think he does? Call REVERSED. First down Chiefs.

Gotta turn around, 34. Mahomes with a misfire on second down, then a drop on third. Henry stopped on third and 1, but there's a flag. Offensive holding. Tannehill is forced out of the pocket and gets drilled by Sorensen. Hill runs a cross and he's easy to find. First and goal as the third quarter ends.

Damian Williams heads for the corner... and gets there! Touchdown Chiefs! Chiefs get to Tannehill. Don't touch that punt! Graphic reminds us that the Chiefs have blown their last three fourth-quarter leads to the Titans. I'm assuming Reid's one win over the Titans was with the Chiefs, because the Eagles have never beaten the Titans (and also never lost to the Texans.) Mahomes to Watkins for 60 yards! Touchdown!

Defensive holding call gets declined, which is an odd call because his man fell down. (At the start of the route, even.) That's Watkins' first touchdown since Week 1? No wonder I benched him in fantasy. 7:15 left. Extremely obvious fake punt here actually WORKS. Nobody was within 10 yards of the up man, who caught the ball. I don't know how you don't sniff that out. Tannehill finds Davis for 22 and they're in the red zone now. Touchdown Titans on a leaping catch by Firkser.

Titans kick off deep. Williams gets run out of bounds, stopping the clock. That's called DPI and potentially a backbreaker. That would not have gotten overturned.

Titans then get caught with 12 men on the field. Chiefs take a delay of game on 4th down with 2:15 left, then punt. The back judge gets knocked down on punt coverage. Titans get the ball at the 20. Tannehill throws into traffic to Humphries and it's incomplete. Fourth and 6 and Tannehill is sacked! That's it! It's been 50 years? My God.

Nantz just dropped that Jack Buck called the last Super Bowl the Chiefs played in. This year's game is on FOX. (Chiefs 35, Titans 24)

A five-yard flea-flicker? Really, guys? Not a huge fan of punting from midfield here. Very McCarthy-esque. We're trying to leave that behind, guys! Garoppolo loves Deebo Samuel. Mostert! Touchdown! No one touched him. That's wild.

Rodgers never had a chance on that Bosa sack. Kenny Clark gets flagged for roughing. That's a tough sack for Garoppolo to take.

Second quarter starts with a 49ers field goal. 10-0. Rodgers gets sacked and fumbles, but the Packers recover. BAD punt. Only 20 yards. Mostert runs for a first down. And another one (that could have been longer if not for Alexander.) Mostert goes left and it's another touchdown. 17-0 49ers and this already feels a lot like their first meeting. Jones crosses midfield. Someone fumbles and the 49ers have it. That snap never got to Rodgers. Wow. That's a touchy interference call. Much more Mostert. EVEN MORE MOSTERT. Samuel and King have another run-in. Gould's kick is good at the two-minute warning. Ervin bobbles the kickoff and gets planted at the 8. Lazard gets flipped in the air after making a catch. Interception! We're done here. Niners running all over the Packers. ANOTHER touchdown for Mostert. Oh, well.

Packers get the second-half kickoff. Adams with only his second catch of the game. This is the Packers' second drive tonight with some traction behind it. Jones gets six on 3rd and 4 and then has to be pulled away from a Niners player. Marcedes Lewis? Marcedes Lewis! Quick pass to Jones over the middle and he brings it in. 49ers run a lot of reverses/double reverses with Samuel. The other thing is the Packers' pass rush hasn't had the opportunity to go off. Mostert with ANOTHER touchdown. This is wild. Buck knows about getting into "your dad's business."

34-13 49ers after three. They put Adams on Sherman's side of the field and Rodgers hits him for 65! Jones makes a fingertip catch and gets out of bounds. Rodgers rolls and finds Sternberger (!?) for a touchdown! That's Kittle's first catch, in case you were wondering how Garoppolo's doing. Kittle gets called for offensive pass interference. The Packers are challenging... what? The spot, we are told. Don't challenge spots, kid. Especially when the game's already over. He's ruled short. Mostert converts 3rd and 1. Strange camera angle makes this Gould 42-yarder look longer than it is.

Rodgers lofts one that's intercepted by Sherman. Home teams!

(49ers 37, Packers 20)
